Description

Rinkitink in Oz appeared some years after the great success that L. Frank Baum (1856-1919) enjoyed with the publication of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in 1900. Like its beloved predecessor, it is filled with whimsical characters that quickly endear themselves to young readers, and it has become a classic of children's literature.
When the stout and jolly monarch Rinkitink arrives with his talking boat Bilbil on the island kingdom of Pingaree, he soon finds himself caught in the middle of a war between Pingaree and a neighboring kingdom. Together with Pingaree's young Prince Inga, Rinkitink and Bilbil bound from one exciting adventure to another, overcoming enormous obstacles with the aid of magical powers.
The ending, of course, is a happy one. And the story is one of Baum's most delightful and imaginative. It is reprinted here from the original 1916 edition, complete with all 114 illustrations by John R. Neill.
